Santa Rita

Santa Rita could not be more different than Isla de Sol! This small community is equally remote, but rather than traveling by boat to get there, we had an 8-hour bus ride along winding, lush green roads. Santa Rita is located in the department of Santa Cruz, in the tropical lowlands. Instead of bundling up as we did at Lake Titicaca, we had to wear the lightest clothing possible-- it was in the 90s plus humidity! These are pictures from the home that I stayed in, which has a traditional sleeping porch area for hammocks. A few of the typical foods here are meat, vegetables, rice and fried yucca cakes.
